Language: Spanish is the main language in Cabo San Lucas and all road signs are in Spanish. English is spoken in some parts.
Driving: In Cabo San Lucas, it is a requirement to wear your seatbelt. In addition, speed limits are enforced. Also be aware that the speed limit is in kilometers, not miles.
Another caveat is that Cabo San Lucas has many one way streets. Check the traffic flow before you make that turn.
Currency: The peso is the national currency, although US dollars are widely accepted in most establishments throughout the town. Change is made in pesos. Major credit cards are accepted in most establishments, but make sure to ask before you order, as not all restaurants and stores accept them. Traveler’s checks are also widely accepted.
Exchanging Money: ATM machines accept foreign debit and credit cards and can be easily found within many areas of Cabo San Lucas. Most banks do not offer currency exchange services. However, there are many money exchange booths found in the downtown area. Although the exchange rate will be less favorable than using the ATM, money exchange booths are faster and more convenient to use.
Weather: Cabo San Lucas sits on the Tropic of Cancer and has a pleasant sub-tropical climate of cool nights and warm days. Average daytime temperatures is 78º F and evenings are a bit warmer in the summer months.
Summers are hot, especially during the months of August through October, with daytime temperatures in the high 90sº F, coming down to 75 to 80º F at night.
Winter temperatures range from 70º F in the daytime to the low 60sº F at night. Monsoon season is from June to October, with September the rainiest month. Peak season is from November to April. Spring and fall are much hotter, with the occasional tropical hurricane from July to October.
