The plush Cabo San Lucas beaches were discovered by the famous Spanish conquistador Hernan Cortez in 1530. Before that, native Indians lived on this otherwise deserted island.
There are numerous beaches in Cabo San Lucas, but not every beach is suitable for swimming. We have some stunning beaches sprawling far and wide all over the world. You have the liberty to choose which beach will suit you the best. Meaning there are specific beaches famous for family trips, for romantic couples and also each beach has its own specialty in some particular season. Also you have the option of getting your feet comforted by walking on the grains of different colored sands like white, black, green, pink.
One of the most popular beaches in Cabo is the Playa Solmar or Shimmering Sunsets beach. This is absolutely not recommended for swimming, but for an easy, leisurely walk from downtown. This place is absolutely magical for the sunset lovers and eternal romantics. It is like being on the edge of the world, with the setting sun, the rushing waves, the pristine sand making the trip all too memorable. Second most popular beach is the “Playa del Amor” beach, which is guarded by towering smooth rock formations and remains surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and Sea of Cortes. It is quite easy to get to this glittering crown jewel of all the Cabo beaches. You can avail a water taxi, or kayak, or glass bottom boat, or a Jet Ski. The more adventurous ones can always opt for a snorkel or dive excursion to reach the paradise. You should always stick to the calm bay for all your swimming and water sports needs. Among a multitude of other beaches some of the beaches that you must make a visit to, include the likes of “Playa El Medano”, “Playa Las Vidulas”, “Bahia Santa Maria”, “Bahia Chileno” and numerous others. While Cabos is ideal for water sports, not all beaches are suitable for swimming and lifeguards are rare. Stay well above the tide line when walking and use extreme caution when venturing into unknown surf. Pacific beaches are especially notorious for rogue waves and undercurrents. Water temperatures range from high 80s F. in summer to about 70 degrees F. in winter, with the Pacific Ocean about 10 degrees cooler year-round. So, when you want to enjoy a week out in the sun on the beaches, consider coming down to Cabos.
